We've been hosting a group of friends for New Year's brunch for a number of years and this time one of our guests brought us a gift of a little wooden Christmas tree covered in silver glitter. I'd just found a table runner in a silvery fabric with subtly shiny holly leaves on it. All I needed now was a way to put them together.
This is what I came up with. A glass container of mostly flat stones, the glitter Christmas tree, a silver pine cone ornament and a thin dark metal pine cone ornament.
I put them with a silvery Georg Jensen candlestick with a candle so dark it's almost black. Our many days of freezing rain made this glittery arrangement seem the perfect display for January.
One of my sisters-in-law put together arrangements both looking back and forward to the next holiday which I snapped when I was visiting over the weekend. She used her Heath ceramic vases for her display. Seeing them at her house is how I first learned about them and was inspired to buy some for myself. A pair of them hold the remnants of a Christmas bouquet set on a tray on a low footstool in her TV room.
The other vase from the trio is paired with a red glass bowl filled with a variety of hearts in anticipation of Valentines's Day. They are displayed on the top of the toilet tank in her bathroom. She often puts all three vases in a row in this spot which showcases them perfectly. I always have to take a peek to see how she's arranged them every time I stop by.
If you love flower arrangements, then you will love this meme which originates each week on Rambling in the Garden with our hostess, Cathy.
What fun. I often go straight from christmas to valentines decorations too. Happy Monday.

I love the understated elegance of your arrangement and candle this week, Linda. Reminds me of the coast of Maine. And your sister does what I do, small bowls and vases in the WC. Why not? As you say, it showcases them perfectly!

What understated elegance your grouping has - the monochrome works so well. And your sister-in-law's little trio of vases is equally perfect. She must be honoured to know that you want to inspect what she has done with them each time you visit ;) Thanks for sharing

That wooden tree looks good enough to eat! If you hadn't told us it was wood I would have thought it was a well decorated cookie. All the beautiful pieces play nicely together.

Pretty, and I expect these are great conversation starters too!

Love them all, but I am particularly taken with your table runner, what a find!

That is a very pretty seasonal arrangement, and I really love that last red vase with the white flower. Hope you get better weather soon - cold here too but with sunshine at least today!
