These make a beautiful fall arrangement. I also like buckeyes and shag bark oak acorns. Their unusual forms are often conversation starters.

I've never looked at them like that but you are so right. They are beautiful. And I'm definitely voting for "bitter chocolate" for the paint color name.

Lisa — I love buckeyes but rarely find them, though I have picked up some from the state capitol grounds.

I have a large glass vase of these but I didn't realize they were locust pods. I love them for all the reasons you've given. I've had them for several years. I think I picked them up on a walk - I sure didn't have the tree in my tiny city yard.

I just bought a big glass vase — Using it would let me see them all the way down instead of just the top layer. Thanks for the idea!

aaah now i cant wait till its autumn again hahaha we have the same trees (leaves) just around the corner of our street and i always find them a bit nasty when falling down because it looks like old banana's... *blush* but i love this idea!
