Wednesday afternoon I spent a couple of hours in the garden picking up locust pods to the tune of four big bags full. Probably got about half of what was on the ground. At the same time I cut the leaves off of a couple of Hellebores that were rushing upward. Then I piled the newly cut leaves on top of the buds to protect the plants for the inevitable change in the weather.
The high temperature on Wednesday was 68 degrees F. (20 C.), a new record for February 22 and 35 degrees above the typical temperature for this time of year. What goes up must come down. Here's the view out the window this morning with freezing rain, hail, sleet and snow on the way to cap off the day. Today's high will be the normal one of 33 degrees F. (0.55 C.).
