A local gardener who is also a quilter had her textile handiwork imaginatively displayed in her garden on a recent visit.
This totem, however, was my favorite object in her garden and one of the most creative things I've seen in any garden. It was a retirement gift made for her by staff and some of the students at Malcolm Shabazz High School in Madison. They also presented her with an accompanying book.
You can tell an artist lives here. I am with you about the totem. It is fab. Seeing these quilts in the garden reminds me of the 'Quilt Garden' that is in the NC Arboretum. They have an area planted with a quilt pattern. You can view it from up above. Very striking.

Very cool totem - especially with the bird house on top.

The totem is absolutely marvelous. I love the ladle and thermometer stuck into the cement.

That's a sweet totem and it's a home-made gift from friends? All the nicer.

I like the idea of planting in a quilt pattern since obviously you cant leave the quilts out except when company is coming!
