The asters and anemones are finished, the sedums have moved into their subdued phase and the stars of my late fall garden — the toad lilies — seem confused by our bout of warm weather. Of the varitieties that are fall bloomers, only about half of them are actually open and blooming. The rest are still in bud as though they had all the time in the world to flower. Maybe they know something I don't.
You can see what's blooming in gardens around the world by visiting Carol at May Dreams Gardens who hosts Garden Bloggers Bloom Day, this monthly round-up of what's in flower in each of our gardens mid-month.
There is that toad lily again. I am going to have to get me one of those! I just love the pattern. Happy GBBD!

oh, those toad lilies are gorgeous. I especially love the form of the one in the fourth photo, the way it rises up like a fountain spray.

Happy GBBD. Love seeing the Toad Lily parade. Here they are holding on to their buds too. Strange.

Hard to believe it's already late fall. Ours just started! The toad lilies are so pretty in the soft autumn light. BTW, your pottery in the header never fails to make me smile! They are the most delightful touch of whimsy!

I love toad-lilies too. Mine are all blooming at the right time which means that 'Sinonome' is just coming into its own. Happy GBBD.

My toad lilies bloom in mid-summer so it's fun to see yours. We are in the midst of aster season. Some are at their peak. Others are just past. Happy Bloom Day.~~Dee

How pretty. Sweet little toad lilies. Mine didn't bloom this year. I'm happy to see that yours did.

Happy GBBD. I've never grown toad lilies and I don't know why, because they should do well in my shady back yard. Thank you for sharing and giving me an idea for next year.
